PLEDGE

Diet culture had its turn. It failed us, and now it’s time to say goodbye. So, if you feel ready, I’m calling you to speak up.

Let’s make sure it’s no longer profitable or even possible to foist this garbage on us. Stand up to diet culture in your life,
family and community by taking the Food Voice Pledge.

But, please, don’t just click a few boxes and get on with your same old life.

Use this as the turning point you’ve been looking for:
  • Commit to challenging the lies you’ve been fed.
  • Pledge to respect and honor your body.
  • Use your understanding and courage to build a culture that welcomes all kinds of bodies and lives.

“You find your voice one ahah, one conversation, one courageous act at a time.”

I pledge to myself

That I’m done with dieting because I’ve tried it enough to know it doesn’t work.

That I won’t blame myself for diets’ failure to work for me.

That I’ll give myself compassion whenever I feel seduced again by diet culture.

I will practice reconnecting with my body autonomy when deciding how to eat.

I pledge to my family

To not speak ill about my body around them.

To not disparage others about their body shape, weight, appearance, or ability.

To demonstrate the beauty of body diversity by courageously living and loving as I am.

I pledge to my community

To speak up about inaccessible spaces whenever it’s safe and I’m able.

To stand up to diet culture and the thin ideal.

To do my own work on biases rooted in white supremacy.

To use my privilege for those with less access.

I am all in!

What should I do next?
